Stringer takes the win at Rd2 Aussi Nats
Over 190 drivers arrived to contest the 2nd round of the Australian National Championship in Brisbane. 2 classes consisting of Buggy and Truggy were to be contested over the 4 days.
Finals
Due to the change in the Schedule Buggy was to be run first. The top 3 (McBride, Stringer and Laughton) cleared out very quickly from the pack with the lead changing frequently in the first 10 mins. A failed clutch bearing saw Laughton out at the 11 min mark which left Aaron and Kyle to battle it out. McBride had a tire come loose which forced a tire change (which was done in record time by his dad Scott) and saw Kyle out only 12 seconds down. A in thralling race then developed between Stringer and McBride. At the end we missed the last lap by .9 of a second giving us 2nd for Buggy.
Truggy was then run and once again it was clear the 3 main contenders (McBride, Stringer and Laughton) were the ones to beat. However, this time it was Team McBride that had a DNF which allowed Aaron to lead from start to finish and take a much deserved win over Laughton and Andrew Foord.
Overall the REDS R5R performed faultlessly over the long 3 days of racing with not one failure. Both engines were simply awesome in the finals.
